Ben Vorlich (Loch Earn)
Description
30th April 2010 and I set out with the intention of conquering Ben Vorlich at Loch Earn. Parking right on the banks of Loch Earn there is no head stat like I had for my ventures to the Lawers Range. Ben Vorlich is 3232 feet high, but a very easy climb - no peat bogs this week. At the top of Vorlich you get your first glimpse of Stuc A Chroin and it looks a rather exposed scramble to get to the top. As I was on my own, I decided to catch Stuc another day, possibly from the south at Strathyre, so I made my way down to the bealach and returned vi athe Stuc return path into the large Corrie and back to the stony path that winds its way down to Ardvorlich house.
The views over to the Lawers Range were immense - The Tarmachan Ridge showing clearly it's 4 peaks. The Loch Lawers and its dam just seem so high up, 1700 feet IIRC. I parked at the end of that Loch for my ascent of the Tarmachan Ridge and Meall a Corianth/Leith in the month of April. This ,mountain and Ben Ghlas and Ben Lawers made a great sight in the sunlight. Back at the car after 5 hours. Oh heard a cuckoo too!
