The forecast was exceptional and Louise had a crazy idea for a weekend's sea kayaking over on the west coast. With extensive experience under their belts, and being in no way under-qualified for such an ambitious wilderness expedition, Iain, Gary and Peter met with Lou under a magnificent starry sky and paddled for 2 of the most aesthetically pleasing hours of their lives down Loch Sunart and off into the night...

We may not have managed the original plan of 85km over 48 hours, but what an amazing adventure it was. Thanks, to Abernethy for the boats, to Lou for the idea, to my three compadres for their exceptional company and to the Lord for keeping us safe, but in the moments when we were conscious of it and those when we were too naive and excited to be thinking about such trivia as danger, remoteness and improbability of rescue... If only all exploration was as breath-taking...
