Food Waste 2014 - Scottish Government TV Commercial
Description
£1 billion of food wasted every year
The average Scottish family throws away food worth around £40 every month - that's one of the stark messages from the Scottish Government's new campaign to encourage Scots to reduce food waste, and recycle the food waste that can't be avoided.
As a nation, one fifth of the food we buy is binned - yet much of this waste can be avoided. Not only does throwing away food take a toll on the wallet, but it's also bad news for the environment, due to the harmful greenhouse gases that are created when food is sent to landfill.
