How To Scottish Ceilidh Dance: Riverside
Description
Johnny Bell from the legendary super funky Scottish ceilidh band Sporran Again walks dancers through a popular Scottish ceilidh dance known as "Riverside".
For this dance everyone will need a partner. Make 2 big lines down the room, this time standing on the same side of the line as your partner, guys on the left, ladies on the right. Everyone should have another couple standing opposite them for the dance to work.
Join hands in your lines. Lines go forward for 4 and shout, back off for 4, forward again for 4 and shout, back off for 4.
Make a right hand star with the couple opposite you, circling to the right for 4, then back with a left hand star for 4.
Do-si-do with the person opposite you.
Do-si-do with your partner.
Top 2 couples join hands in a straight line across the top of the set.
Top couples raise your arms and run down the length of the set with the two lines passing under your arms as you run.
Start the dance again.
