Description

our day out at Pluscarden Abbey Scotland, i visited here with the school at age 15 years old i never forgot it, though i did not realise it was so close to home it took 33 years to find it again, so i was overwhelmed by the place the peace and quite to me was bliss. here i have put together some of my footage at beginning me talking with my kids as we walk round, the middle part i added music, then me talking again, i couldn't see no monks for a start and when i did see one i was so overwhelmed, i guess just my childhood memory of them, im not catholic or religious in that sence, but i am very spiritual and could feel the energy inside the Abbey in fact the energy made me feel rather dizzy. the inside smelled of sage as they had burned sage so you know what im like with sage. i will definatly go back.oh and Baxter the cat was a rescued animal he was found behind the baxter soup factory and handed into cats protection, they asked the Brothers if they wanted him, well they took to him, and he sure does have a beautiful loving home now :) i know the video is long but it is a family video for my family to see along with whoever wishes to sit through the video, shakey at parts lol.

Pluscarden Abbey is the home of a community of Catholic Benedictine monks. It is the only medieval monastery in Britain still inhabited by monks and being used for its original purpose. Situated six miles south-west of Elgin in Moray, the monastery enjoys the peace and stillness of a secluded glen, The atmosphere of quiet reflection and of work dedicated to the glory of God is the same now as it was in the thirteenth century, when a community of monks first came to this part of Moray. If you visit the Abbey today, you can enjoy not only the beauty of its architecture and its setting but also something of the restful atmosphere of devotion that has so deeply permeated this little corner of Scotland.
